    Live Spaces

I really want to show my support for Microsoft by using more Live services (e.g. Live Spaces). I really do. A lot of my friends also use Live Messenger, so they can easily see my update on Live Spaces. But it's just...all these screw-up page layouts on Firefox, and the fact that you can't embed a picture in the middle of your blog (all pictures are tagged at the end of the entry) is kind of annoying. I don't like Blogspot because it's kind of confusing (I like something more simpler) and I don't belong to that community. Exteen is where my fandom friends dwell in, but (1) it's freaking slow + the site is down 50% of the time, and (2) it's only for Thai peeps. I hope Live Spaces will improve to be much better than its current state soon.

    Dating Show (LIVE!)

You know one of those late-night reality tv shows that obviously aren't good enough to make it to prime time? Yes, those terrible dating shows that sometimes quite funny to watch just to laugh at those crazy people (crazy enough to make a fool of themselves on natinal tv.) But what I'm about to tell you is definitely worse! Why? Because it's live!

So I went to Zoka today, trying to finish grading homeworks. (side note: people NEED to staple their work and WRITE LEGIBLY!) The couple that sat next to me were shamelessly flirting to each other, which was fine if the guy weren't so whiny and full of himself it made me want to vomit.

Pardon if it sounds like I was eavesdropping, but they were quite loud and consistently chatting (despite acting like studying for test) it's hard for me not to hear anything.

Anyway, so I think they were talking about finding a job, and this guy said something like "I think it'll be easy for you to find a job, coz you're pretty." I HAD TO restrain myself not to bitch-slap him right then and there! I couldn't understand why the girl didn't take it as an insult. And then the guy went on and talk about all his past relationships, and kept talking and talking, and kept getting more annoying and annoying. In the end, the girl asked where they were going for this relationship and if he was looking for anything serious, and the guy just simply blanked out. The girl ended up saying that she didn't think she was his type, and it took him seriously like > 30 seconds to find a response. He didn't even say no, just asked back why. O_o ... I was very tempted to intervene and tell him exactly why no girl will ever want to go out with him based on that conversation.

I know I sound crazy, but it was very annoying to see this type of men. Luckily, most of my male friends weren't like that. Of course, I woundn't have befriended them from the beginning if they were. Okay, I must go back to work.

In Search of the Perfect Shoes

People who have known me for more than 3 years would know that I'm not a shopper. I admit that I like window shopping, and I do have the tendency to buy things on impulse, but seriously, my wardrobe is about 1/3 of what an average girl owns. (It used to be 1/6 back in high school, but I'm doing much better now.) My most recent obsession with shoes started when I was trying to put my mind off some unpleasant thoughts. I also happened to own 6 pairs of nearly-broken shoes, so I threw them away once and for all. That would leave me with a pair of kitten-heel sling back, and a pair of zebra-printed ballet flats...not exactly the most practical shoes for school now, are they?

So yes, I've been looking and buying quite a few pairs recently. Since Fall, I've purchased 8 pairs in total, 4 of which aren't shoes that I can wear on a daily basis. And come on, most girls do own more shoes than that. I guess I'm just a late bloomer, that's all.

PS. I'm still looking for pastel, candy-like mules like those you see in Marie Antoinette. I actually found a couple of them at Neiman Marcus in SF. They are lovely. I should have at least tried them on. Why didn't I buy them, you ask? Well, they are Manolo Blahnik's, that's why. I can barely pay my rent, so no, I can't afford Manolo's.

    V for Voracity

Today sucks. It's been raining non-stop since I woke up. Not to mention couple bad news I received when I checked my mailbox this morning. I'm still sore from the practice last night. I'm just looking forward to tomorrow when chocolates go on sales.

    Help! I need a therapy!!!

I've been spending way too much money on clothing and shoes! Just yesterday while walking home I bought another pair of boots! (I was tempted by the sales.) I really need to STOP buying things...but but but I want new dresses :'(

    Geek Talk

David C: I am more the sort of person to see how well we get along as friends first before outright courtship, heh...
David C: And I am careful about how much interest I allow myself before checking if there is possible interest on their side as well. I am maybe too careful, though.
me: You're definitely different from most guys I know.
me: Many guy friends of mine told me that nowadays they have to go after multiple girls at once.
    me:
So when they got rejected from one, they can immediately go after the others without having a gap in between, which will be a waste of their time.
David C: Hmm. I think that's fairly normal these days, for both girls and guys, as long as they haven't been dating steadily yet.
me: Perhaps. I think hey're like BFS. I personally do DFS.
me: So it sucks. Coz when I go too far for one person I can hardly find my way back.
David C: There's always the danger of getting hurt, yeah.
me: It seems to me that you're doing A* though, coz you're secretively guaging several girls at the same time
David C: It doesn't *seem* to be working =p
me: but it's supposed to be the most efficient algorithm
me: Dang, I need to save this conversation ...so geeky.

    WoW, it's really boring!

I finally installed WoW and played it. But the game's so boring I can't really stand it. I mean, what's so much fun about running around killing pigs? I used to play Ragnarok back in high school, and I think that game is much more interesting. Maybe I was younger back then, so I still enjoyed the game. I just can't understand how people get so addicted to WoW.

Anyway, I went to Taj's apartment when Amy visited us a few days ago. (BTW, I hope Amy had fun hanging out with us coz we're such a lame host.) Taj has this game called Guitar Hero that's basically like DDR but you play guitar instead of dancing. I totally got sucked into this game. They're making Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360 right now; and I am looking forward to getting one when it's released next year.

Speaking of Xbox360, Tiffany, my Microsoft recruiter, promised me to get me one if I sign the contract. Annie said she'd get a DDR pad if I can get an Xbox. I am also waiting for my free Zune player. I wonder if I will ever get any work done from now on...

Job <---> New Grad = Man <---> Woman

Now it is the beginning of the college grad recruiting season for many companies (so the job hunting season for us students). I've never felt wanted from someone outside my family as much in my life! All the tech companies take turns to come visit our CSE department almost every week. Once you get a final interview, or an offer, they'll treat you like a princess -- put you up in a nice hotel, take you to fancy dinners, shower you with free stuff, etc. I realize that after you accept the offer, or start working, you'll be nobody again. So might as well enjoy the attention, right? Jellyfish makes an analogy of job recruiting process that I can't say it better myself. LOL.

    บริษัทตอนไม่ได้คนก็เหมือนกัน พอรับเข้าแล้วก็ไม่ค่อยแยแส 555

    Promises to Daddy

Dad: You'll be all by yourself in a foreign country. You have to take good care of yourself. Don't date while in school. Don't drink too, coz it's far away from home. I worry about you.
    Me: Suuuuure...I guess.

    Today

Me: I'm so not gonna get married.
Dad: Well, if you look around I'm sure you'll find some good guys.
Me: Weren't you the one who told me not to date anyone three years ago?
Dad: Oh, I was just afraid that you'd get distracted from study. Now it's three years later, and you almost graduate. You can date as much as you want, and perhaps get married, too.
    Me: ...

Me: Hey, so I also follow your 'no-drinking' rule strictly (only when school's in session , of course.)
    Dad: ... That's nice?
Me: Dad, I've been a good girl. Can't you stop smoking for an exchange?
Dad: You see, the reason that I don't want you drink is because you look silly when you're drunk. You laugh like a fanatic. I don't want you to make a fool of yourself in front of your friends.
    Me: ...very smooth, Dad...very smooth...

Wafa: I didn't know you're that attached to your coffee. It's not like you roast and grind it yourself.
Me: That's not fair! I was there when they ground it, too. It's like you're saying that the father doesn't contribute anything to his child because the mom does all the labor!
    Wafa: ...

    Argggghhhh~~~ Work!!!

I went to the Grace Hopper Party...umm...I mean Conference...last week. I left Seattle on Tuesday (10/3) evening, and came back really late on Sunday (10/8). The trip was great, the conference was so much fun. But the thing is, now I have to catch up with a week worth of work. It's insane.

The weather in San Diego was really nice. It was so sunny I got tanned within hours. I didn't have time to visit UCSD, but UCLA. To be honest, I wasn't impressed with UCLA that much. The university is good overall, but their engineering school is soooooo uncool. They have the crappiest buildings for the engineering department ever. The CSE dept there is very ghetto, too. Two floors of ugly hallways, no fancy facilities whatsoever, and women bathroom that has been altered from men bathroom...I mean WTF? Can't you spend a little more money on the engr buildings?

    Pictures will be up shortly.

    Foreseeable Hell Ahead

Looks like this is going to be another tough quarter ...

Damn Gabe convinced me to take the grad level Security class with him. They offer both graded and CR/NC versions. The difference is that the graded version requires a final project. I mean, if I'm gonna take the class, might as well take the graded one, right? I heard the workload for CSE 378 is pretty heavy too. Algorithms should require quite a bit of reading. On top of that, I'm taking a couple honors classes, and will TA for CSE 322. Will I have time for research at all?

    I think I'm gonna die ...

    Bill Gates Goes to College

This is HILARIOUS ! This clip was shown at the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in LA September last year. I've seen the film (Napoleon Dynamite,) but excuse me for not finding it funny. This one, though, is friggin' awesome! I didn't know BillG can act, hahaha~ Oh how I love the Microsoft promotional videos. Really, they are quite phenomenal ! lol

    Bill Gates Goes to College
The Microsoft bigwig teamed up with Napoleon Dynamite in this spoof video from PDC 2005. The camera's a little shaky, but you get the idea.

    First Post !

How many journals/blogs should one keep? I don't know. I have accounts in LiveJournal, exteenblog, eBlogger, and MSN blog. I rarely update my LJ because I don't know many people there, I mean, know them in RL or in a personal level. I basically use LJ for monitoring others' posts. It's a good place to get news and fanfictions, esp. the ncdashseventeenones--ahem. I started my blog in exteenblog a while ago after discovering that and many of my friends from Grimmauld Slash Webboard, and all the other (2) ex-DL teammates keep their blogs there. It's a nice place, many people use it. The only thing that keeps bugging me is that it's very slow and hard to access. And I can't copy-paste things when editing my entries since I'm a firefox user. Anyway, I'll still keep updating there, though I think I'll write less about myself, (which mostly consists of rants and raves,) and more about fandoms and creative writings. I'll rant somewhere else. MSN blog seems to be a good fit for this. Personally I might prefer eBlogger. But again, I don't seem to find any friends there.
Enough for today, I still have homework that's due in the next 8 hours... Arghhh, not another allnighter again!!
